on wings of a darkened shroud
in the soft light of an angel's dream
darkness comes from the flames
and spirits no longer answer
and so it was that some words were taken
in from a knock on the door
in the face of a silent tear
and the voice it would speak from the heart



a face under the shadow’s surface
the world of our dreams has fallen through
and glory descends on us all
in the violence of its ending
we have come undone
danger lies in wait the silent souls cry
in the bitter kiss the last tear comes down
for anyone still sleeping knows
heard the distant cry of an angel


here in my own emptiness
there where i long to be
in a deep hole within me
all around me no one could know
but something felt so wrong
and now a shadow's there 

with no one else in sight

no longer thinking of anything
i'm thinking of you
rescuing these wounds that can't heal
